What a busy month its been! We here at Sechebel have been working HARD to hit the ground running and get 2019 off to a great start. And our efforts weren’t in vain! We’ve been able to secure some amazing collaborations with a few people, including participating in the 9th Ave Festival in NYC! The event is going down May 18th and 19th. While we’re still working on perfecting our menu, we can promise you that it’ll be a unique, one of a kind culinary experience that you’ll have to come visit us and check out! We appreciate so much of your support, your love, your kind words. We’ve been blessed to get so much support from those near and far and it’s HUGELY appreciated! Have patience with us as we work to get you all connected with us again via the blog, but know that we’re in the lab cooking and crafting up some exciting things! Chat soon. <3
I’ve been asked a lot – especially as of recent – How do you do it all? I’ve also been asked if I actually ‘enjoy’ doing this. One person even said “Wow, so you actually do cook!” Those who know me know that I’m not only a new mother, but I do still work full-time while also getting Sechebel up and running. And while I may not necessarily look or act tired, at times I definitely am! Take this weekend for example… We had a VERY special baptism and birthday party we were catering for. Coincidentally enough, this was the same weekend that my one and a half year old decided that she wanted to be more mischievous than ever! And so did it make the task a bit more difficult? Definitely. Were there moments of frustration? Absolutely. But I do not accept defeat. Ever. Kids will be kids, and some days will be better than others. Events are always fun, even at the times when they’re a bit overwhelming. But I LOVE WHAT I DO. In EVERY capacity. I love being a Mom just as much as I love being an entrepreneur! Both paths are filled with memories and […]
How was your Valentines Day?! Because we’re still very much in startup mode, we launched our Sechebel’s Special for the holiday. If you didn’t get a chance to grab one, we will definitely be launching this product again as it was such a hit! It also allowed us to dive into our dessert world realm and get creative with our chocolate covered strawberries. We were actually so excited to do them and folks were so happy with them that we’re thinking of partnering with a local floral shop for next Valentines Day. No matter what you did, we here at Sechebel hope you had a day full of love and laughs.
Its been a bit of a… rough Winter, to say the least. Juggling getting the catering business up and running was more work than I probably anticipated, and yet its been the most exciting experience I’ve gone through probably since the birth of my daughter. But that wasn’t the only thing that kept us busy! My daughter has been sick pretty consistently due to the natural change in season, and so juggling that has been tough as well. We’re finally getting a handle on everything, and with that we’re now looking towards some pretty exciting events coming up! We just finished a birthday party, and in a few weeks we’ll have a baptism reception and a bridal shower brunch to cater. Its such an honor to be able to provide not just our delicious eats, but our customer service to so many of you. We take what we do VERY seriously, this isn’t just a ‘side gig’ or a ‘hobby’. This is us putting our dreams to life. And so, no matter how busy you may be, no matter how daunting or strenuous some of the things life throws your way are… Never stop dreaming.
We went through a pretty rough holiday season! Everyone in my family fell sick more than once, including myself. At times like this, there is always a request for my homemade chicken noodle soup. I start off with making a stock of celery, carrots, onion, fresh chicken, and herbs and spices. Letting this simmer over the course of some hours results in a deliciously hearty and flavorful soup that satisfies your ailments and your soul. The best thing about soup is that you can always switch up ingredients! Sometimes I add potatoes, other times yucca and pumpkin. Sometimes I’ll add spaghetti noodles, other times I’ll add orzo or wild rice. For my husband who is Dominican, he’ll also request sancocho – a latin style soup that features beef, chicken, corn, and a myriad of other veggies. This is often times had alongside some white rice and maybe even avocado. What’s your must have for the wintertime blues?
